Derek Wayne
Singer, 34, formerly of Gibson/Pike County area passed away on Sunday, October
20, 2013 at his home in Loves Park, Illinois.
He was born
on October 29, 1978 in Oakland City to Phillip and Carolyn (Goodloe) Singer.
He graduated
in 1997 from Pike Central High School in which he was the only 1st team
Football Allstate Defense Lineman in Pike Central Charger history. He then graduated
from Indiana State University with a business degree and was the President his
senior year of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He was employed by Northern
Insurance Group as an Executive Production Manager. Derek enjoyed all sports
and also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is
survived by his wife, Jeannine “Lou” Singer; mother, Carol Singer; sister, Lisa
Abner; loving niece, Carly; aunts, Sharee Goodloe, Brenda Thorne; uncle, Roger Singer; several
cousins; and his dog, Skeelo and cat, Twinkle.
He was
preceded in death by his father, Phillip Singer; uncle, Larry Goodloe; aunts,
Judy Croft and Sue Helm; and his grandparents, JT & Carman Goodloe and Ruby
Singer.
Funeral
Services will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Pastor Kevin Wilson. Burial will be at
the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation
will be from 10 AM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
