Richard Earl
“Rick” Miley, 63, of Snake Run passed away on Tuesday October 29, 2013 at I.U.
Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Rick was
born on April 8, 1950 in Evansville, IN to Earl William and Wilma (Busing)
Miley.
He retired
as a heavy equipment operator for Local #181. He had been a coal miner at Amax Ayshire Millersburg Mine and had been a proud member of the
UMWA for 43 years and was a member of UMWA Local 1907. He had also been a
farmer with his brother Ron for many years. He had served in the Army National
Guard. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Mackey. He was
also a member of the N.R.A., Oakland City Masonic Lodge #467 and the American
Legion #351 in Elberfeld.
He is
survived by his wife, Doris Miley; mother, Wilma Miley of Mackey; 2 step-sons,
John (Tracy) Woods of Elberfeld and Peter (Amanda)
Woods of Evansville; 6 step-grandchildren, Haylee and Lukas Woods and Owen,
Annie, Ella and Ivy Woods; brothers, Ron (Brenda) Miley of Snake Run and Bob
(Dana) Miley of Ft. Branch; sister, Diana (Wayne) Clark of Chandler; 4 nieces
and nephews, Josh Miley, Jamie Naas, Lindsey Clark and Bobbi Miley; and a great
niece, Bailey Naas.
He was
preceded in death by his father, Earl Miley in 2003.
Funeral
Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Salem United
Methodist Church in Mackey, officiated by Rev. Matt Malin.
Burial will be at the Albright Cemetery in Mackey.
Visitation
will be from 4 until 8 PM on Friday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, Oakland
City and from 9 AM until service time on Saturday at the church. There will be
a Masonic Memorial Service at 7 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
