Betty J. Hoefling, 84, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away on Tuesday,
Oct. 29, 2013 at the River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN.
She was born
on Jan. 7, 1929 in Gibson County, IN to the late Raymond and Ida (Schnepper) Schmits.
Betty was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN, the
Virgin Mary Altar Society, the Haubstadt Daughters of Isabella, and The Knights
of St. John Women’s Aux. She loved to
attend her grand kids sporting events and loved to
play cards. She was known to many people
in the Haubstadt and Fort Branch area as Grandma Betty.
Besides her parents, Betty is also preceded
in death by her step-mother, Rose Schmits, her
husband, Charles E. Hoefling, Sister Margie Duffy,
and son in-law Kenny Maikranz.
Betty is survived by 3 children, Joyce (Don) Dewig of Haubstadt, IN, Sheila Maikranz
of Fort Branch, IN, and Scott (Brenda) Hoefling of
Haubstadt, IN, grandchildren, Ken, Craig, and Brian Maikranz,
Stacey Williams, Michael Dewig, Jason and Amy Hoefling, 14 great grandchildren, 2 brother in-laws, Joe
Duffy of Haubstadt, IN, and Gene Kuester of
Darmstadt, IN, 1 sister in-law, Betty S. Hoefling of
Haubstadt, IN, and all of her many card playing friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted
on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at 8:00 AM at the Sts.
Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN, with Father Tony Ernst the
celebrant. Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
Visitation
will be on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort
Branch, IN, and again from 7:00 AM until service time at the church on
Saturday. A Rosary will be recited by
the church parish at 7:30 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. The family would like to thank River Oaks and
Gentiva Hospice Care for their tender loving care
given to their mother.
