Wilma L.
Beckerman, 91, of Princeton, Indiana passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013
at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton.
She was born
in Princeton, IN, April 28, 1922 to Louis and Hazel Austin who, along with her
brothers, Louis Austin, Jr. and Robert Austin, preceded her in death.
Wilma
graduated from Garfield High School in Terre Haute, but had attended Princeton
schools from first through eleventh grades. She graduated from Indiana State
Teachers College in 1944 and taught in the commercial department of Princeton
High School for six years. She also taught spring kindergarten classes at
Baldwin Heights School for several years. She was a member of the Tower Heights
Church of God where she taught all ages from kindergarten to older adults. She
also served as church secretary for twenty years.
Surviving
are her husband, Virgil L. Beckerman, whom she married December 25, 1949, and
three children and spouses: Karen (James) Farlow, of
Auburn, IN; Kay (James) Stephens of Princeton; Ken (Sharon) Beckerman of
Hazleton. Also surviving are two grandchildren: Erin Farlow
(Ethan Rusin) and Jill Farlow
(Bryan) Vance and two step grandchildren: Scott (Claire) Bosma
& son Henry and Shannon Bosma (Bill) Casey and
sons, Harman, Hayden and Heston, and a number of
nieces and nephews.
Funeral
Services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Tower
Heights Church of God in Princeton, with Rev. James Walters, Jr. and Rev. Skip
Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation
will be from 4 until 8 PM on Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home and from 9 Am until
service time on Wednesday at the church.
