Virginia Rose Smith, 81, went home to be with her
Lord on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the Transcendent Healthcare Center of
Owensville.
She was born in Gibson County on Aug. 10, 1932, to
Silas and Beatrice Strain, both of whom have preceded.
On April 12, 1953, in Patoka, she was married to
William “Bill” Edward Smith and was a loving wife for more than 60 years. She
was an active member of the New Life House of Prayer in Haubstadt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons,
Daniel Wayne Smith and James Edward Smith; a brother, James Strain; and a
sister, Mary Bratton.
She is survived by her husband Bill; sons Billy
(Cindy) Smith Jr. of Fort Branch, and Fred J. (DeNeice)
Smith of Haubstadt; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1,
2013, at Doyle Funeral Home, 520 S. Main St., Princeton.
The Revs. Dustin McCandless and David Dixon will officiate.
Internment will take place in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch.
Visitation will be from noon until service on
Tuesday.
