Mary Jane Paul, 74 of Princeton, passed away Sunday, Sept.
15, 2013 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
She was born Nov. 25, 1938 in Gibson County to Oliver A. Halbig and Margaret (Schmitt) Halbig.
She was a graduate of Haubstadt High School class of 1957 and
was active in their alumni association. She had resided in Princeton since
1960. She was retired from Gibson General Hospital in Princeton having worked
there as an LPN for 32 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Princeton and served as both Homebound Ministry coordinator and Eucharistic
Minister. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Our Lady of Lourdes
Circle 157 in Princeton and a member of the Simon Brute’ Society of the Diocese
of Evansville. She was also a former Republican Party Precinct Committee
Person.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard J. Paul
of Princeton; a daughter and son-in-law, Julia A. (Paul) Leary and Brian B.
Leary of Cincinnati, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey A. Paul and Angela
K. Paul of Princeton; 4 grandchildren, Jessica N. (Leary) Yeager of Granville,
OH, Emily N. (Leary) Morrison of Washington, DC, Cassandra L. Paul and
Alexander J. Paul both of Princeton; twin brothers, Dan Halbig
of Owensboro, KY and David Halbig of Evansville; a
sister, Carol Kenney of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son,
Joseph C. Paul; and a brother, Eugene Halbig.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at
St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton, with Father Ronald Zgunda
as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Colvin
Funeral Home in Princeton, with a combined Daughters of Isabella and Rosary
service at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
