E. Ray
Shelton, 83 of Newburgh passed away at 5:30 am, Saturday, June 22, 2013 at West
River Health Campus.
Ray was born July 8, 1929 in Evansville the son of Elmer Ray, Sr.
and Pauline (Quirey) Shelton and was a 1947 graduate
of Central High School.
He was a
veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict.
Ray was
a 33 year member of First Christian Church and currently a member of American
Baptist East Church. He retired in 1991 from Lensing Wholesale, Inc. after 44
years in sales. Ray and his wife, Marlene were snowbirds and spent October
through May in Leesburg, Florida for many years. Ray loved motorcycling and
planned many trips with his wife and friends. He was member and an officer of
Kentucky Travelers Motorcycle Club and an organizer for Southern Indiana
Motorcyclist Association in Evansville.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Marlene (Grubb)
Shelton of Newburgh, sister, Jean Kerney of
Evansville (her husband, James Kerney passed away in
April 2010) and two nephews, Mark Kerney (Anne) of
Winchester, IN and Keith Kerney (Melanie) of
Wadesville, IN.
