Fred J. Nelson, 80, of Princeton passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at his home in Princeton.

He was born Feb. 11, 1933 in Princeton to Samuel and Velma (Sinkhorn) Nelson. 

He retired from Potter & Brumfield after 37 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Fairview Presbyterian Church near Francisco, where he was a trustee. He was a member and Past Master of the Prince Lodge #231 F&AM. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Princeton Country Club.  He loved his grandchildren and was a fan of all their activities.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucy Nelson of Princeton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne (John) Stevens and Kim (Larry) Miller all of Princeton; five grandchildren, Angie (Jason) Wolf, Chris (Erin) Stevens, Greg (Abby) Stevens, Melissa (Josh) Miller and Bethany (Rusty) Reeves; 11 great grandchildren and one on the way; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Barbara) Nelson of Princeton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill Nelson. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Fairview Presbyterian Church near Francisco, officiated by Rev. Jerry Wibert and Pastor Kevin Wilson. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until service time on Thursday at the church. Masonic Service will be held immediately before the service at 2 p.m.
