Janice Diana (Dawson) Gibson, 69, of Princeton passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at the VNA Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville after a four month bout with cancer.
She was born January 27, 1944 in Columbus to Arthur and Ellen Dawson, both deceased.
She married Robert Gibson Jr.
July
24, 1965.
Janice and husband, Bob
attended hundreds of Purdue football and basketball games over the span of more
than 40 years, including 9 bowl games. Janice was the secretary at St. Joseph School for 20 years until her retirement in December 2005.
She loved to crochet and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton and their prayer shawl group.
She is survived by her
husband, Robert Gibson Jr.; two daughters, Cheryl (Todd) Blanford
and Diane (Steve) Christian; son Robert (Paula) Gibson III; four grandchildren,
Chris Blanford, Sydney Blanford,
Juliet Gibson and Stephanie Chase; brother, James Dawson of Greenville, S.C.;
sister, Judy Sieferman of Indianapolis; and many
nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7,
2013 at St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Princeton, Father Ronald Zgunda and
Father Bernie Etienne, celebrants. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until
8 p.m. Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
