James R. “Jim Bob” Young, 75 of Princeton, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Gibson General Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Princeton.

 

He was born June 2, 1937 in Princeton to William E. and Magnolia (Armster) Young. 

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion. He was baptized at the Patoka Church of God in Christ. He had lived in Princeton all of his life and had retired from Whirlpool Corp. where he worked for 32 years.

 

He is survived by six children, Gary Lynch, Stefan Young, Jeffrey Young, Lisa Young and Linda Young  all of Princeton and Chad Young of Lafayette; sister Lunolia Simmons of Patoka;  16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents his wife Jacquelyn M. Young in 1989, brothers and sisters, Lendal (L.C.), Moses, Raymond, Elizabeth, William Jr., Eliza, Dorothy, Isaiah (Zeke), Paul and Anna Mae.

 

Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in Princeton, with Rev. Dr. William W. Simmons Sr. officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka.

 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church.  Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with the arrangements.  Retired Military Veterans will conduct military graveside services.
