Norman V. Schmitt, 89 of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN. 

 

He was born to the late Henry V. and Theresia (Weis) Schmitt on Oct. 2, 1923 in Gibson Co. IN.   

 

Besides his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife Agnes M. (Peter) Schmitt in 2001 and a brother Richard Schmitt.

  

Norman was retired from the Emge Meat Packing Co. after 42 years of service.  He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN, the Haubstadt Knights of Columbus, the Haubstadt Knights of St. John, and had been an assistant scout master for 6 years.   

 

Norman is survived by 4 children, Kenneth R. (Bobbi) Schmitt of Haubstadt, IN, Dennis (Debra) Schmitt of Fort Branch, IN, Keith A. (Tonya) Schmitt of Evansville, IN, and Donald P. (Dawn) Schmitt of Owensville, IN, 2 sisters and 1 brother, Florentine Wittman of Scottsdale, AZ, Bertha Robling of Evansville, IN, and Leroy Schmitt of Fort Branch, IN, 7 grandchildren, Travis, Brian, Evan, Jace, and Dane Schmitt, Kim Cole and Terra Therapos, 3 Step grandchildren, Ashley and Josh Ross, and Matt Stone, 2 great grandchildren, Hunter and Tanner Cole, and 2 step great grandchildren, Kaiden Becker and Khloe VanNote.

  

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Father Tony Ernst the celebrant with burial in the church cemetery. 

 

Visitation will be on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN and again from 9:00 AM until service time at the church on Saturday.  A Rosary will be recited by the church parish on Friday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
