George F. Hoffman, 82, of
Haubstadt, passed away on April, 26, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
George was born on Aug. 2, 1930 to the late Ferdinand and Coletta
(Daeschle) Hoffman in Jasper.
He was a retired teacher and
Principal at Fort Branch High
School and
Vice Principal at Gibson Southern High School. He was a Lt Colonel in the US
Marines retired, was a member of the VFW #2714, Haubstadt K of C, Haubstadt
American Legion Post # 194, Military Officers Association of America, Haubstadt High
School Alumni Association, Haubstadt Somerfest Committee,
Haubstadt Area Historical Society, Past President of the Haubstadt Town Board,
and a Kentucky Colonel.
Besides his parents he is
preceded in death by two sisters, Rosann Kuper, Catherine Verkamp and a
brother Thomas Hoffman.
George is survived by his
wife Carolyn Hoffman of Haubstadt, a daughter Kathryn Hoffman of Haubstadt, Tim (Deonna) Hoffman of Poseyville, and Richard Hoffman of Raleigh N.C.., two brothers, Andrew (Beth) Hoffman of
Cincinnati Ohio and Ambrose (Patty) Hoffman of Jasper. Nine grandchildren:
Christopher, Adam, Nathan, Kyle Hoffman, Amber ,Howard,
Sean Gebhard, Maranda Grimm
and Heath Hoffman. Two Great Grandchildren Caleb Hoffman and Kaydon Grimm
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Sts Peter and Paul Church in
Haubstadt, with burial in the church cemetery with military rites by the VFW
Post #2714 and Haubstadt American Legion Post #194.
Visitation for George will be
Monday
April 29, 2013 from 2 to 8 p.m.
at the Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. and again at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. till service time.
