Violet Ann Pfeiffer, 88, of Mt. Carmel, IL departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior and her departed loved ones on Tuesday, February 5, 2013.

She was born on March 9, 1924, in Kenosha, WI.; to Frank and Lillian (Gardener) Ehmke.

She married Robert H. Pfeiffer on September 29, 1944 in Morganfield, KY and he preceded her in death on November 20, 1976.

When her daughters were young she was very active in Grace Memorial Baptist Church. And in later years was active in the General Baptist Church, serving several years on the benevolent committee. Violet retired from Snap-On Tools in 1991 after 28 ? years of loyal and dedicated service. Upon retiring she remained very active. She took great pride in her family and in her home. On a beautiful day you would always find her in her yard or in her flowers. She loved to shop, go for drives and spend time with her family and friends. She loved talking about fond memories of the past and making many new memories for the future. Violet had many devoted friends through the years and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a loving, dedicated and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Jim) Minnis of Princeton, IN and Karen (Randy) Snelling of Mt. Carmel, IL; grandson, Jeffrey Minnis of Princeton, IN; granddaughters, Kendra (Scott) Grounds of Allendale, IL and Rhonda (Mike) Ewald of Newburg, IN; great-grandchildren, Kacey Lies (Richie Nelson) of Albion, IL, Kevin (Heather) Minnis of Princeton, IN, Cory Grounds of Allendale, IL, Kaitlyn and Courtney Ewald of Newburg, IN; great-great-granddaughter, Alexa Minnis of Princeton, IN; sister, Janice (Werner) Steinseifer of Kenosha, WI; and many special and very loved nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Lillian Ehmke and husband, Robert Pfeiffer.

Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Chapel of Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, IL. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Chapel of Short Funeral Home with burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt Carmel, IL.
