Mary Barbara (Mageovage) Anslinger, 89, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at Deaconess Hospice Center in Evansville

 

Barbara enjoyed sitting on the front porch of her home, watching and talking to people as they went by.  She was a devout Catholic and for many years, was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Haubstadt.  Her large country garden produced bushels of vegetables which she spent many summers canning.  Her dill pickles, chili sauce and pickled beets will be long remembered. 

 

Barbara, the oldest of five siblings, was born in Berwick, Pennsylvania on Dec. 2, 1923 to John and Mary Evelyn (Hutchinson) Mageovage.  They preceded her in death.

 

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Justin V. Anslinger and sisters Amy Louise Sloan of Peoria, Ill. and Margaret Jean Talanca of Berwick, Pa. 

 

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Anslinger (Jeff Weintraut) of Evansville, sons Michael of Scott Depot, West Virginia, Steve (Diane) and John (Bonnie) both of Haubstadt.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Susan Anslinger (Jimmy Pugh) of Ft. Branch, Kathleen Anslinger of Haubstadt, Brittney Luna-Cowgill (Sam) of New Harmony, Brandon Luna (Britanny) of Evansville; four great-grandchildren; brothers, John William Mageovage (Jackie) of Stevensville, Maryland and James Francis Mageovage (Nancy) of Berwick, Pennsylvania.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted by Father Tony Ernst on Wednesday, Jan.2, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt.  Burial in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery will follow. 

 

Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 a.m. until Mass time Wednesday at the church. 

 

There will be no visitation at Wade Funeral Home in Haubstadt who is handling the arrangements.
