James
W. Whetstone, Jr. of Crawfordsville passed away Friday morning (16 Nov 2012.) He was 56.
Mr. Whetstone was a graduate
of Owensville High
School,
class of 1973 and attended University of Southern Indiana. He worked at Emge
Packaging in Fort Branch, Packaging Corp. of America in Vincennes and Inland Container of Crawfordsville where he was a
shipping clerk. He was a member of the Meat Packing Union, Lions Club of
Princeton, First Christian Church of Mt.Vernon and coached for several years at the Boys and
Girls Club in Princeton. He enjoyed carpentry, fishing and the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway, especially the Brickyard 400.
Born Dec. 7, 1955 in Flint,
Michigan, he was the son of James Whetstone, Sr. and Edith
Joan Robb Whetstone.
He married Wendy Nicholas Whetstone
on November
5, 1993 in Vincennes. She survives.
Additional survivors include
six children, Misty Richardson, Mitch Whetstone, Ryan Perry, Nicholas
Whetstone, Shilo Whetstone and John Phillip
Whetstone, the last two still residing at home. He is also survived by
four siblings, John (Peggy) Whetstone, Sheila (Ed) Hodges, Becky (Mike)
Williams and Marlene Hale, as well as grandmother, Olive Robb Hale of Princeton, Indiana.
In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by a son, James Whetstone III and brother, Michael
Whetstone.
Services will be held
Wednesday at Noon at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Crawfordsville
led by Father Dennis Faker. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the
church beginning one hour prior to the service.
