Virginia
W. Lankford, 95, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in
Jasper, Ind.
She
was born July 29, 1917, in Owensville, the
daughter of Warren Boren and Violet Virginia (Benson) Johnson.
Virginia was a graduate of Owensville High School class of 1935, and had
attended Evansville College for three years. She
was a teacher and had taught second grade at both Patoka and Owensville. She
was a member of the Owensville United Methodist Church, life member of the
Salvation Army Auxiliary, Gibson General Hospital Auxiliary, Daughters of the
American Revolution, 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and the
Evansville Kennel Club.
Survivors
include her son-in-law, Jerald Roberts; two grandchildren, Jason (Cheryl)
Roberts, Jennifer (Geoff) Ruckel; three
great-grandchildren, Jonah Keith, Kendall Lauren and Jerald Joseph Roberts.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Lankford in 1990; and
her daughter, Jane Roberts in 2005.
Services
will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Owensville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Kloepping officiating. Burial will be in the Owensville,
Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 3 to 7 p.m. CST on Wednesday at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville.
