Mary Louise (Cody) James, 74, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at the Deaconess Hospice Care Center.

 

Mary was born in Carlinville, Ill. on March 16, 1938 to the late Hubert and Christina Mae (Simon) Cody.

 

Mary served as Den Mother, Cub Master, and Committee Chairperson for the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts for over 26 years at both St. Theresa Catholic Church in Evansville and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton. She was awarded the Bronze Buffalo for her many years of service in scouting. Mary was also an accomplished seamstress and poet.

 

Mary is survived by her daughter, Vicky (Ed) Jarvis of Petersburg; sons, Joe (Julie) James of Overland Park, Kan., Jesse (Judy) James of Clinton, and Mike James and his fiancé, Dusty Pugh of Princeton; brother, Ronald Cody; and by her best friend, Janet Beem; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

 

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Edward “Bud” James in 1986; parents; brother, Jim Cody; and by her granddaughters, Angela Jo and Alexis Marie.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 600 Herndon Dr., Evansville, IN 47711. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

 

Friends may visit from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., and again from 9 a.m. until Mass time at the church on Saturday.
