PRINCETON—Helen E. McEllhiney, age 105, died at The Waters of Princeton on Sept. 16, 2012.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1907, and was the daughter of Earl and Mary (Weisel) Gaskins.

Helen graduated from Memorial High School in Evansville in 1925. She was a member of the first class that graduated from that school. After she graduated, she worked at two different music stores in Evansville. In October of 1930, she married Henry McEllhiney and moved to his farm near Francisco. They were married for 51 years, due to the death of her husband in 1981. Helen was active in several school and community organizations during her adult life. The one thing she was most proud of was directing the church choir at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton for many years.

Survivors include: son, William (Barbara) McEllhiney; daughter, Rose McEllhiney, both of Princeton; foster daughter, Amanta Williams, of Jasper, one granddaughter, Bridget (Randy) Reidford, six grandsons, Stan McEllhiney, Steve (Kathleen) McEllhiney, John (Georgia) McEllhiney, Jeff (Barbara) McEllhiney, Robert (Dawn) McEllhiney and James (Lisa) McEllhiney, one foster grandson, Eric Williams, and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Paul Gaskins, and son, James McEllhiney, in 2011.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton, Father Ronald Zgunda, celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton.

Visitation will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Family and friends will go in procession to the church.
