Susan Kolb Mayer, 77, of Jacksonville, N.C. passed away Sept. 22, 2012

 

She was born in Patoka to Leotis and Margaret Stewart Kolb.

 

She was a beloved Mother, grandmother, sister, wife and teacher. She taught school for 43 and a half years and loved it and considered it one of her greatest accomplishments. She was raised on a working farm in Patoka, graduated from Evansville University and then began her teaching career at the age of 22. She was the epitome of military wife, and working mother and did both with ease and grace. She was a member of the Richlands Ruritan and an avid bridge player.

 

She is survived by her son, Bernie L. Mayer and wife Anita Mayer, a daughter, Jacqueline M. Hollingsworth and husband, Marty Hollingsworth, a sister, Jane Kolb Woods, her grandchildren; Perry Cole, Brandon Mayer and wife Katie Mayer, Denver Hollingsworth, Dallas Hollingsworth, Jackson Hollingsworth, and Logan Hollingsworth, two great grandchildren, Aija Cole and Kendall Mayer.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard L. Mayer, sisters, Anna Lou Hofman, Louise Houston, brothers, Joe Howard Kolb and John Kolb.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton.  Burial will be at Decker Cemetery near Patoka. 

 

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home.
