Omar T. (Tom) Wallace, 91, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away on July 8, 2012 at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Evansville, IN. 

 

He was born on May, 28, 1921 to Omar T. Sr and Carrie (Bernard) Wallace in Ohio Co. KY.

    

Tom was retired as a sheet metal worker for George Koch and Sons, and was a farmer.  He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN.  He was a World War II Navy veteran having served on the Aircraft Carrier, USS Sanagmon.  He was a member of the Haubstadt American Legion Post #194, The Haubstadt Knights of Columbus.  He loved playing clabber at the K of C, he loved gardening and farming.

    

Besides his parents Tom is also preceded in death by his wife Mildred C. Wallace on July 3, 2008, a son Steve Wallace, and a sister Evelyn Renfrow.

    

He is survived by 6 children, Tom (Lorinda) Wallace of Fort Branch, IN, Barb (Ron) Stolz of Haubstadt, IN, Pamela (Dennis) Wilderman of Evansville, IN, Richard (Melissa) Wallace of Evansville, IN, Jim (Bernadette) Wallace of Haubstadt, IN,  Karen (Dennis) Elpers of Haubstadt, IN, a daughter In-law, Sharon Moutoux of Poseyville, IN, 3 sisters, Marguerite Kuegel and Ruth Schrecker both of Owensboro, KY, and Emily Levering of Ohio,16 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren

    

The family would like to thank Pine Haven Nursing Home for the care given to their father while he was there.

    

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the St. James Catholic Church; Father Tony Ernst will be the celebrant.  Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #194 and VFW Post # 1147. 

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN and again from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the church on Wednesday.  A rosary will be recited by the church parish at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home Tuesday evening.   The family wishes to thank the staff, residence that he became friends with, and Heritage Hospice for the excellent care given to their father.
