James E. Tevault, 74, died at 3:05 a.m. Sunday, July 8, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

 

He was born July 10, 1937, in Pike County, son of Herbert and Ethel Lee (Bennett) Tevault.

 

He was married Feb. 9, 1974, to Elnora Leister Popp, in Jasper.

 

He retired as a maintenance supervisor at Old Ben Coal Company in Pike County.

 

He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was a member of the VFW in Petersburg and American Legion in Winslow. He enjoyed restoring old tractors, and fishing.

 

Surviving are his wife, Elnora Tevault; daughter, Stephanie (Robert) Stoneberger of Lawrenceville, Ill.; stepdaughter, Judi Cuevas of Otwell; stepson, David Popp of Otwell; four grandchildren; a brother, Ivan Tevault of Jasper; four sisters, Audie Miles of Bloomington, Mary Clark of Battle Creek, Mich., JoAnn Wirey of Haubstadt and Helen Hauke of Princeton.

 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Hardy Tevault, and three sisters, Mabel Green, Irene Reller and Doris Epley.

 

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, with burial and graveside military rites in St. Paul Cemetery in Haysville. Rev. Henry Leeks will officiate.
