Charles E. Weir, 81, of Newburgh, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family.  

 

He was born April 6, 1931, in Savah. Charles spent the majority of his years making math an enjoyable subject at Oakland City College and at Castle High School, Newburgh.

 

He was a member of the Terrace Parke General Baptist Church in Evansville.

 

His hobbies were spending time with his grandkids, attending and watching sports (especially Castle High School and the New York Yankees).

Charles played the piano for his own enjoyment, and the enjoyment of others.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Alfred C. Weir and brother, Darwin Lee Weir of Prescott, Ariz.

 

Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean (Woods) Weir of Newburgh; daughter, Gay Marie Weir of Boonville; son, Tony Weir (Heather) of Newburgh; and grandchildren, Whitney, Jessica, Andrew, Aaron, and Ashlynn Weir of Newburgh.

 

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Terrace Parke General Baptist Church, 2145 E. Columbia Street, with burial in Columbia Church Cemetery in Princeton.

 

Friends may visit Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Alexander Newburgh Chapel and Tuesday from noon until service time at the church.
