Mary A. Thompson, 90, passed away on June 30, 2012.

 

Mary was born August 9, 1921 in rural Owensville to the late Jesse and Ethel (Shaw) McReynolds. 

 

After graduating from Fort Branch High School in 1939 as Salutatorian, she worked in the offices of Fort Branch Building & Loan and Emge Packing Co. In 1941 she married R. Warren Thompson and helped him run a poultry and hog farm until they retired from farming in 1984. She worked at Colorcraft, retiring after 13 years. Mary was a long time member of New Liberty Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as moderator, secretary and deaconess.

 

Surviving are her husband of 71 years, R. Warren Thompson; sons Larry L. Thompson (Judy), and David W. Thompson (Sandi); daughters Janet S. Davis (David), and Ruth Ann Phillips (Raymond); eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Laura McReynolds, Estelle Cole, and Ruth Reinhart.

 

Services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 5th, 2012 at New Liberty Church, Hwy. 68, west of Haubstadt with Gordon Jones officiating.  Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery, Cynthiana.

 

Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 4 at Alexander West Chapel.
