Clarence H. (Tiny) Welte, 88, of Elberfeld, IN, passed away at his home on Thursday, Mar. 29, 2012.

 

He was born to the late John M. and Anna (Brecker) Welte on Sept. 20, 1923, in Elberfeld, IN.

 

Tiny as he was known to his many friends was a retired farmer and owner of Skypoint Farms. He showed beef cattle at the Vanderburgh County Fair for 63 yrs, was an exhibitor at the Indiana State Fair for 58 yrs, was a past 4H leader, and was inducted into the Polled Hereford breeders Hall of Fame in 1994. Tiny graduated from the Millersburg High School in 1942, and was a veteran of World War II.. He retired as a director of the Elberfeld State Bank after 35 yrs, and had been Campbell Twp. Trustee for 8 yrs. He was also a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN, and belonged to the Haubstadt Knights of Columbus.

 

Besides his parents he is also preceded in death by an infant son Joseph Welte, 5 sisters, Leona Herr, Norma Hein, Ellen Titzer, Florene Titzer, and Dorothy Hirsch, 4 brothers, Albert, Herb, Earl,and Ralph Welte.

 

He is survived by his wife of 64 yrs., Doris J. (Kuhlenschmidt) Welte, whom he married on Apr. 9, 1947, 6 children and their spouses, Tom (Rosie) Welte of Evansville, IN, Mike (Darlene) Welte of Evansville, IN, David (Ann) Welte of Evansville, IN, Ron (Deana) Welte of Elberfeld, IN, Teresa (David) Pijut of Newburgh, IN, and Jane Ann (Bryan) Meyer of Haubstadt, IN. He is also survived by 11 Grand Children, Jeff (Kim) Welte, Matt (Rachel) Welte, Mark (Katie) Welte, Bryan (Michelle) Welte, Jonathan Welte, Stephanie Wargel, Julie (Matt) Patterson, Kyle, and Lauren Pijut, and Travis and Alex Meyer, 1 step grandchild, Robin (Tim) Antey , and 7 great grandchildren.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, Apr. 2, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN, Fathers Tony Ernst and Kenneth Herr will be co-celebrants.

 

Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum in Evansville, IN.

 

Visitation will be on Sunday, Apr. 1, 2012, from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN, and again from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Monday at the church. A rosary will be recited by the church parish at 6:30 P.M. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
