James C. Hans, 75, of Valparaiso,
passed away Friday, March 2, 2012.
He was born April 24, 1936 in Fort
Wayne to Harry and Mildred (Linnemeyer) Hans.
Jim graduated from Concordia High
School and received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. He
served 30 years with U.S. Steel Gary Works retiring in 1993 as a Supervisor in
the Coal Handling Department. He was a member of Heritage Lutheran Church where
he was active in several groups and also enjoyed volunteering with Lutheran
Braille Workers. Jim was a true gentle man with deep seated values, a wry
smile, and a ready helping hand.
On February 27, 1960, Jim married
Dorothy Michel who survives along with their children: Pam (John) Wunderlich of Medford, NJ, Connie Hans of Sycamore, IL,
Beth (Paul) Curran of Glen Ellyn, IL, Michael (Tami) Hans of Greenwood, IN; and
grandchildren: Christopher, Daniel, Katrina, and Jenna.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; and brother, Gerald.
Following cremation, a memorial
visitation will be held Monday, March 5, 2012 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at
Heritage Lutheran Church, 308 Washington St., Valparaiso with memorial service
beginning at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Joseph Ostafinski
officiating.
