Carl Evans, Jr., died Sunday
afternoon March 18, 2012 at his residence.
Carl was born February 25, 1925 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Carl and Dena (Hildebrand) Evans, Sr.
During WWII, he served with
the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. Carl had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 30 years, retiring in November of 1989.
He was also a volunteer with the Comstock Fire Department for 24 years.
Carl was preceded in death by
his parents; 3 brothers, Jacob, Richard, Sr, and William Evans; and a sister,
Virginia Morrison.
On July 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Alice G. (Elliott)
Evans (formerly of Patoka, Indiana) who survives. Also surviving, 4 children, Jeannie
(Scott) Rogers of Battle Creek, Carl "Butch" (Debbie) Evans III of
Comstock, Kathy Evans of Canoga Park, CA, and David (Susan) Evans of Bradenton,
FL; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Eugenia Ozinga of Grand Rapids; a sister-in-law, Irene Evans of
Comstock; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held 10:30 Friday from the the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday. Interment will be in Fort Custer National
Cemetery with full military honors.
