R. Harvey "Doc"
Pinkston, 85, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
He was born July 29, 1926 in Akron,
Ohio and worked for Firestone in Akron for five years. He graduated from Ohio State University in Columbus.
He had resided in Princeton since 1955, coming from Ohio.
"Doc" was a retired
veterinarian, practicing in Princeton for 15 years. He then worked for the Indiana State
Board of Health Meat Inspection Division.
He was a U.S. Army veteran
during the Korean War.
He was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church in Princeton, life member of the Elks Lodge, past president of the
Princeton Country Club, life member of the Indiana Veterinary Association, life
member of the American Veterinary Association, (AVMA) and member of
Southwestern Indiana Veterinary Association.
"Doc" is survived
by his wife of 45 years, Lillian Pinkston of Princeton; a son, Fred William Pinkston of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Rebecca Sue Wedel
of Evansville; five grandchildren, Chad, Jason and Aaron Pinkston, Millicent Carroll and
Amanda Bryant; 10 great grandchildren and a brother, Paul E. Pinkston of Kettering, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by
his parents, Finley Pinkston and Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" (Anderson)
Pinkston; two sisters, Charlotte Webben and Lucille
Lewis and a brother, Charles F. Pinkston.
Funeral services will be held
at 10:30
a.m. Friday, Feb. 10,
2012 at Hillside United Methodist Church in Princeton, with Rev. Brian Cook and Rev. Lisa Schubert
officiating.
Burial will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. V.F.W. Post 1147 will provide
full military rites at the cemetery.
