WILSON, John "Lec" of Hopkins, Michigan, age 86, passed
away Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Wings Home.
He was born January
17, 1926
in Patoka, Indiana, the son of the late
Tom and Minerva (Elliott) Wilson.
He graduated from Mackey High School in Indiana. He worked for St.
Regis Paper Company - Panylite Division in Kalamazoo for 18 years. He then
worked for Wolverine Electric Company in Burnips,
retiring after 25 years of service. He attended Hopkins United Methodist Church. He was a member of the
Elks Lodge in Allegan. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, musician and made
muzzle loaders.
He was married to Irene
(Taylor) Wilson on August
12, 1949;
she survives him. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, John (Jan) Wilson II
and Larry (Renee') Wilson, both of Hopkins; one daughter, Marsha Palenick of Hopkins; five grandchildren, Lynn (Kyle),
Amanda, T.J., Lacey and Lexie; four great
grandchildren, Madison, Elijah, Layla and Sophia;
three brothers, Bill (Dorothy) Wilson of Allegan, Bob (Fran) Wilson of Florida
and Chuck (Adelia) Davis of Texas; four sisters, June
Krug of Hopkins, Joyce Ann Jones of Indiana, Carrie (John) Mulder
of Allegan and Judy (Dennis) Kennedy of Hopkins; and many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
He was preceded by two
brothers, Russ Davis and Omer Wilson.
Friends may visit with
the family from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at
the Gorden Funeral Residence Hopkins Chapel (www.gordenfuneral.com)
Funeral service will
take place at 11:00 AM on Monday,
January 23, 2012 at the funeral home. Pastor Trayton
Lull will officiate. Cremation will take place after the service and interment
of ashes will be at Maplewood Cemetery at a later date.
