Nancy R. Maikranz,
66, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
She was born Sept. 27, 1945 in Gibson County, the daughter of Doyle and Edith Helen (Wilson) Maikranz.
Nancy was a graduate of Owensville High
School
class of 1963. She furthered her education at the Evansville School of
Practical Nursing and became a licensed practical nurse in 1966, and later went
back to school at Wabash Valley College and became a registered nurse in June, 1982. She
retired from Deaconess Hospital after 43 years of service. Nancy was a member of the Owensville United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities including the
Methodist Women, hospitality outreach committee, prayer shawl knitting group as
well as several other committees. She
was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary 2714 and the Hallmark Club of
Evansville.
Nancy had traveled with the General Baptist Church mission team to Honduras on a medical mission in Feb. 2005 and again in Oct
2005 to the Philippines. After retiring, Nancy's dream was to continue to serve as a volunteer with
the mission team.
Survivors include her
brothers, James of Odessa, Texas, Donald of Owensville, Ken (Martha) of
Princeton and Roger (Jane) of Sarasota, Fla.; two nieces, Kendra Maikranz and Amanda Turney; four
nephews, Brad Maikranz, Ryan Thewes,
Michael and Matthew Maikranz; several great-nieces,
nephews and cousins, and two very dear friends she considered as sisters, Betty
and Paula Dickinson.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, and a brother, Bill Maikranz.
Services will be Tuesday Dec.
20, at 2
p.m. at Holders Funeral Home,
with the Pastor Robert Kloepping officiating. Burial
will be in Owensville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday and from 1 p.m.
until the service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
