George Hedge, Jr., 83, passed
away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011
at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton.
He was born Jan. 14, 1928 in Princeton.
George retired in 1990 from
Potter & Brumfield in Princeton as a production specialist after working there for 40
years. He served in the U. S. Army from 1946 – 1949. He was a member of the Church of God of Princeton, where he served in several organizations within the
church. He also was a former Little League coach.
George is survived by his daughter, Dawn Ellen Hedge of Princeton; a sister, Virginia (Joe) Osborne of Melbourne, Fla.; a special
friend, Barb Bennett of Princeton; nephews, Bill Luttrell and Terry Pierce; a niece,
Rose Mary Barrett; a great niece, Paula Ritchie and several other nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary (Dilbeck)
Hedge; his wife of 52 years, Shirley Jane Hedge, on Sept. 10, 2006, she was the
daughter of the late Rev. John and Muriel Magness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am
Tuesday,
Jan. 3, 2012 at Church of God of Princeton, 2005 Keystone Drive. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton. V.F.W. Post 1147 will provide full military rites at
the cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Monday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and then from 9 am
until the hour of service on Tuesday at the church.
