Richard L. Wagner, 77, passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City.

 

He was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Gibson County to Lincoln B. and Edna P. (Coomer) Wagner.

 

He lived in Fort Branch for the past seven years, formerly living in Princeton.

 

He retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 32 years of service in Princeton and as Postmaster in Haubstadt and Hazleton.

 

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton and attended St. Lucas United Church of Christ in Fort Branch. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 1131, I.O.O.F. (Odd Fellows) Lodge, the St. Joseph Cemetery board, and Boy Scouts of America for 25 years, formerly serving as Scout Master.

 

He is survived by his wife, Wanda M. Wagner of Fort Branch; children, Daniel (Ginny) Wagner of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Patty (Brad) Bathgate of Princeton, Dr. Kathryn (Dr. Dennis) Sommer of LaPorte, Susan (Mark) Pearson of Jeffersonville, John (Tammy) Wagner of Princeton; daughter-in-law, Kris Wagner of Georgetown; step-children, Renee Weymouth and Mark Anderson of Fort Branch; 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; siblings Diana Roth, Marcella Buck, Linus Wagner, Marilyn Mills, Jerry Wagner and Gayle Rostron.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Thelma J. Wagner; a son, Carl A. Wagner and siblings, Paul, Emma, Barbara, Joyce, Jeanetta and Dennis.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 am Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor John Heumann and Father Tony Ernst officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Princeton.

 

Visitation will be from 4 - 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
