Jackie L. Bishop 73, of Patoka passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

 

He was born Jan. 25, 1938 in Princeton, to Leonard and Goldie (McCrary) Bishop.

 

He graduated from Patoka High School and retired after 33 years as an engineer from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended Patoka United Methodist Church. Jackie was a member of the VFW Post 1147, Patoka Masonic Lodge, Gibson County Shrine, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine.

 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Michele Bishop of Patoka; daughters, Monica (Chris) Bryant and Sandra Bishop all of Fort Branch; three grandchildren, Hannah, Owen and Riley Bryant; brothers, Jim Bishop and Don Eugene Bishop both of Patoka; sisters, Madeline Moyer of Benton, Ill., and Ellen Roach of Petersburg; and his mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Kunkel.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vaughn Bishop and a sister, Anna Lee Bishop.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Daniel Payton. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka.

 

Visitation will be from 12 until 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 1147.
