John L. Straw, 77, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

 He was born Aug. 12, 1934 in Gibson County, the son of John and Sadie (Williams) Straw.

John retired from Old Ben Coal Co., was a member of ABATE, Eagles 361 of Princeton and the Elks 634.

Survivors include five daughters, Lana Boyle and Lori Sheridan of Owensville, LaDonna Straw of Petersburg, Misty Williams and Shannel Whitehead of Princeton; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Edward Straw of Princeton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George and Earl Straw; and sister, Naomi Williams.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 at Upper Hills Cemetery with Pastor Joe Sizemore officiating. Holders Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Family and friends going to the cemetery are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m.
