Dorothy I. Spindler, 79, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville.

 

She was born April 24, 1932, at Snake Run, to George and Mary (Maikranz) Memmer.

 

She lived in Haubstadt for 61 years, and retired as dietary supervisor of Wirth Hospital in Oakland City.

 

She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, St. Bernadette Auxiliary 280, American Legion Auxiliary where she served as past president; Altar Society, Outreach Committee and Bereavement Committee. She was also a past 4-H leader.

 

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband George, who died in 2008; two sons, Bradley and Glen Spindler, and 10 older siblings.

 

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Deby Klimaszewski of Indianapolis, Alicia Kay Brandle and her husband William of Elberfeld; three sons, Roger Spindler and his wife Sharon, Keith Spindler and his wife Cheryl, all of Haubstadt and Dale Spindler and his wife Mischele of Effingham, Ill.; 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Tony Ernst as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Funeral Home in Haubstadt. A Rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until Mass time Wednesday at the church.
