Martin Lemuel Sokeland, 74, of formerly of Somerville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011.

He was born Aug. 27, 1937 in Somerville.

He retired from Chrysler Corp. after 32 years. He was a member of Pacific Eagles 3842 for more than 30 years and a member of Meramec Valley General Baptist Church of Pacific.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Juanita (Meier) Sokeland; three children, Melody Jean (Chris) Yozzo, Michele Lynn (Roger) Dodson, Matthew Wilburn (Rachel) Sokeland; two sisters, Rosalie Cousins of Phoenix, Ariz., Annabel Barrett of Oakland City; a sister-in-law, Leota Cassiday of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at Bell Funeral Home in Pacific, Mo. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Ashes will be placed at Somerville Cemetery at a later date.
