Richard L. "Dick" Sharp, 88, Winslow, died Saturday, Oct. 22, at 12:30 p.m. at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg.

He was born July 12, 1923 in Pike County, son of Harry E. and Elizabeth (Chesser) Sharp.

He retired from Old Ben Coal No. 1 and King's Station Mine after 30 years of service.

Surviving are a son, Ron (Nila) Sharp of Petersburg; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lavina I. Sharp in 1980. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harry Sharp Jr., and a sister, Cara Belle Adkerson.

Funeral services are at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, Rev. Bob McDonald officiating, with burial at Montgomery Cemetery.

Visitation is from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
