Cecile (Gladish) Caldemeyer, 68, of Winslow, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.

She was born in Oakland City April 18, 1943, daughter of Cecil H. and Wanda L (Clark) Gladish.

Cecile taught at Wood Memorial High School for 30 years. She started the Girls Athletic Association and was the first female coach at the school, coaching the first girls sport, which was volleyball. She led the volleyball team to several successful seasons.

She was an active member of her community, serving as a 4-H leader, Rainbow Mother Advisor, a Sunday School teacher, piano player and song leader for Arthur General Baptist Church, and was a member of the Arthur Quilters. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, John, daughters Carolyn (Eric) Tinsley and Karen (Joe) Street and 10 grandchildren, Chelsea, Kendal and Erin Tinsley; Roland, Tura, Erik, Anthony, Issac, Diana and Reagan Street; her twin sister Camille Aydt, and brother Gary Gladish.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sharon.

Visitation is Friday Oct. 28 from 3-7 p.m. at Lamb-Basham Funeral Home in Oakland City.

Funeral services are Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Arthur General Baptist Church with burial following at Spurgeon cemetery.
