Terry Joe Powers, age 62, passed away Tuesday Sept. 13, 2011 at Indiana University Hospital in Bloomington, Ind.

He was born in Gibson County, Ind., on April 2, 1949 to Charles and Elizabeth (McClure) Powers.

Terry worked for the Crane Naval Depot in Crane, Ind. He lived in Bedford, Ind., for the past several years, moving there from Francisco.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and had served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 256 in Oakland City.

He is survived by two sons: Chris Powers (Erica Stoll) of Washington, Ind., and Tim Harvey of the state of Washington; his fiancée Autum Elwess of Bedford; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Katherine M. Powers in 2001, daughter Rebecca Harvey and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. CDT Saturday, Sept 17, 2011 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Pastor Jonathan Scott officiating.

Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery near Francisco. American Legion Post #256 will provide graveside services. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
