Michael “Mike” C. Hughes 66, of Princeton passed away on Sunday September 18, 2011 at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
He was born on April 27, 1945 in Princeton, IN to Paul Hughes and Maxene
(Flora) Dixon, both deceased. He is also preceded in death by
his stepfather, Theodore Boone Dixon.
He was a graduate of the last class
from Hazleton in 1963. Mike retired in 2007 from the Wabash
Holding Company (formerly Amax Coal Company) after 35 years of service.
He enjoyed vending at car shows all over the Tri-State. He was in the
U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Eagles #361.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Reitta (Kolb) Hughes of Princeton; daughters, Kelle Herring and special friend, Greg Greenwell of
Princeton and Lynette Cates of Belen, New Mexico; 5 grandchildren, Brittany
Bailey (Chris VanVliet), Briana
(Travis) Smith, Ashley (Jeff) Taylor, Zachary Bailey and Sierra Cates; 5 great
grandchildren; and an aunt, Joyce Thompson of Mt. Vernon, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will be at Decker Cemetery in Patoka.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Military
graveside services will be conducted by VFW #1147.
