Jerry E. Young, 68, passed away Sunday Aug. 14,
2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Born June 5, 1943 in Pike County, he was the son of Denver and Flossie (Jackson) Young.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion Post 25 in Princeton and Fairview Presbyterian Church. He was employed with the carpenters
local union in Evansville, operated a barber shop in Oakland City and retired after 20 years from the Gibson County
Dept.
Survivors include his wife, Linda (Jackman) Young; sons: Jayson
(Michelle) Young of Dubois, Chris (Pam) Jones of Illinois, Jason
(Charlotte) Jones of Washington, Ind.; daughters, Rhonda Young of
Vincennes, Angela (Joe) Clauss and Shelley (Pete)
Ryan of Washington, Ind.; sisters, Gladys Offil of
Oakland City; Judy Johnson of Vincennes, brother: Jack Young of Greenville, SC;
and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday Aug. 18, 2011 Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City with the Rev. Jerry Wibert
officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the chapel.
