Ada (McCallister) Thompson, 93,
of Mt. Olympus, passed from this life to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, Aug. 30,
2011.
She was born July 30, 1918 in Decker to Riley and Uda
Grace (Cain) McCallister.
Ada married Edwin Ford Thompson on June 21, 1952. They resided on the Thompson Family farm until
their respective deaths.
She graduated from Decker Chapel High
School in
1936. She worked at Hansen Corp. until 1952 when she became a farmer’s
wife and homemaker. She was a former member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, more recently attended Union Community and Mt. Olive Methodist Church. In the recent years she enjoyed watching deer,
wild turkey, and hummingbirds from her windows. She loved spending time with
family, listening to Gospel music and writing poetry. She will be
remembered for her beautiful smile and joyous laughter.
She is survived by daughters, Martha Wilkens and Edwina (Lee) McConnell both of Mt. Olympus, Joyce (Mike) Holmes of Lafayette; seven
grandchildren, David Wilkens, Laura and Rachael
Holmes, Emilee, Clara, Amanda and Riley McConnell;
one great granddaughter, Macy Wilkens; one brother,
Marvin McCallister of Indianapolis; and a sister, Alma Whitsel
of San Dimas, Calif.
Besides her parents and husband, she
was preceded in death by infant granddaughters, Katie Lee and Adah Anne McConnell.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. (CDT) Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Todd Bryant and Pastor Michael Tarner
officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery near Hazleton.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. (CDT) Saturday at Colvin Funeral Home.
