Samuel Ray Mays, 71, of Patoka, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at home in Patoka.

Born Jan. 19, 1940 in Jasper, Ark., he was the son of Glover and Stella (Davis) Mays.

He was a retired logger with Scott Lumber. On Jan. 12, 1961, he married Donna Faye Laird in Albion, Ill.

Survivors include a son,  Scotty Ray (Sherri) Mays of Princeton; daughters, Jacqueline Osborne and Tammy K. Mays of Patoka; brothers, Herchell Mays of Lamar, Ark., Edgar (Niva) Mays of Deere, Ark., Robert (Jamie) Mays of Lamar, Ark., Norman Mays of Fairfield, Ill.; a sister, Ruby (Edgar) Rasa of Lexington, Mo.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Tyler, Heather, Laci; and seven great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lloyd Mays.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 at Doyle Funeral Home 520 S. Main St. in Princeton with the Rev. Gary Arnold officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011 at Doyle Funeral Home.
