Olivia J. Weiss, 85, of Fort Branch, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Born May 8, 1926 in Vanderburgh, County, she was the daughter of
Joseph and Anna (Angermeier) Schmitt.
She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic
Church in Fort Branch, the St. Bernadette Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John and the Fort
Branch VFW Post 2714 Women's Auxiliary. She volunteered as a pink lady for Gibson General Hospital in Princeton and she was an avid clabber player. Olivia worked as
the baker for the Lakeview Truck Stop in Haubstadt for 23 years.
Olivia is survived by three children and
their spouses, Rita (Rigo) Abreu
of Bowling Green, Ky., Steven (Shela) Weiss of Fort
Branch, Shirley (Micheal) Baker of Patoka; one
grandchild, Jessica M. (Brian) Poe; four great grandchildren, Cynthia, Baylon, and Olivia Poe, Hailey Koberstein;
one great great grandchild, Mya
Reeves; and two brothers, Edward and Joseph Schmitt, both of Evansville.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
husband, Cletus J. Weiss in 1994; a grand daughter, Kelly M. Seale in 2007; and
her sister, Florine Gries
also in 2007.
A mass of Christian burial will be conducted
at 11
a.m. Friday, May 20,
2011 at Holy Cross Catholic
Church in Fort Branch with Father Tony Ernst as the celebrant. Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 from at Stodghill Funeral
Home on Ind. 168 West in Fort Branch. A rosary will be conducted by the church parish at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
