Patricia Ann Anderson Schmidt departed this
life on April 18, 2011 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, from complications related to heart disease.
She was a loving, generous person who will
be missed by everyone who knew her.
Patricia was born on May 24, 1930 in Terre Haute, to Helen I. (Morgan) Anderson and Ralph R.
Anderson.
She graduated from Princeton High School in 1948, from Indiana State University in Terre Haute with a bachelor of nursing degree in 1951, and
received her registered nurse certification later that year. On Aug. 19, 1950 in Henderson Ky., she wed her high school sweetheart, Floyd E. “Bud”
Schmidt of Princeton who preceded her in death in 1993. They resided in Princeton, where she worked as a labor/delivery nurse and emergency room nurse at
Gibson General Hospital until her retirement in 1977.
Patricia was a skilled and dedicated nurse
and medical provider. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, cooking,
eating, family genealogy, history, basketball and events at the University of Southern Indiana, her cats, and being around people. Patricia
was like a mother and grandmother to all, and always found the good in the
lives of those she touched.
She grew up in Terre Haute and Princeton with her brothers Billy, Ralph Jr,
and her beloved sister Sharon (Burch) Rose, all of whom preceded her in
death. Patricia was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Estelle
and Charles Griffin, with whom she lived in Princeton; two sons-in-law, Richard
Kruzmanowski and Tony Travis; mother- and
father-in-law, Floyd N. and Hazel (Hughes) Schmidt; two brothers-in-law,
William and Jerry Schmidt; and a sister-in-law, Judy Schmidt Finney.
Patricia and Floyd had seven children,
David Schmidt of Frankfort, Kristil Travis of Sandy,
Utah; Kurt Schmidt (Patti) of Davenport, Iowa; Ingrid Lindy of Evansville, Paul
Schmidt (Donna) of Indianapolis, Barbara Schmidt (Sarah Rubin) of Chicago,
Ill., Lana Hurst (Joe) of Princeton; eight grandchildren, Christian Lindy (Sarawit), Nicholas Lindy (Natalie), Jonathan, Jillian and
Jeremy Schmidt, Peter and Anna Schmidt, Katie Hurst; and great-grandchildren,
Abigail and Elisabeth Lindy, and Hannah Lindy. A fourth great-grandchild
is due any day.
Patricia is survived by her children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Ken Rose of Lexington, NC, Charles Ray Schmidt of Mt Vernon, Ind.; three
sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends and acquaintances
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. A short memorial service will begin at 8 p.m. Private burial was at Columbia ‘White Church’ Cemetery.
