Carolyn Henson, 74, of Mt. Carmel, Ill., passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2011 at home.

Born Jan. 12, 1937 in Gibson County, she was the daughter of Noble and Doris (Rainey) Woods.

She married Leonard “Horsefly” Henson Jr. on Jan. 8, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, Ill.

Carolyn enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She previously owned Hadley’s in the 1970’s.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Henson Jr.; son, Larry (Cheryl) Henson of Bone Gap, Ill.; three daughters, Karen (Ronald) Hughes of Mt. Carmel, Rhonda Henson of Evansville, Zoe Hayes of Mt. Carmel; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Henson of Mt. Carmel; brother, Steven Woods of Hazelton; two sisters, Yvonna Jones of Mt. Carmel, Sharon (Fred) Douglas of Owensville;  seven grandchildren, Shanna Henson, Greg Henson, Brad W. Hughes, Kara (Nate) Spalding, Nichole (Mark) Simpson, Stacy (Vince) Wickware and Amy Harrelson; eight great-grandchildren; and a several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Doris Woods; and sons, Gary L. Henson, Jerry W. Henson and Scott M. Henson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Gospel Kingdom Church with burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Gospel Kingdom Church, Mt. Carmel.
