Robert J. Sweppy, 55, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at home.

Born Dec. 31, 1955 in Princeton, he was the son of Robert Eugene and Dorothy (Hart) Sweppy.

He married Joella Minnis on July of 1973 in Mt. Carmel, Ill.

He was a member of Friendsville Pentecostal Church. He worked as a laborer in the oil fields.

Survivors include his wife, Joella Sweppy; three daughters, Stephanie VanVleet of Allendale, Ill., Melinda (Kevin) Lewis of Mackey, Samantha Blair of Keensburg; a son, Robert Sweppy Jr. of Keensburg; two sisters, Debra Shelby of Princeton, Roberta Reavill of Mt. Carmel; a brother, Tony Sweppy of Allendale, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his his parents.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Coffee Cemetery, in Keensburg, Ill.

Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel.
