Richard Alan “Rick” Rawlinson,
64, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Princeton, passed away Sunday Jan. 23, 2011 at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Richard was born on Oct. 19, 1946 to John D. and Mary Elizabeth (Griffith) Rawlinson.
He grew up in Grayville, Ill and moved to Princeton graduating from Princeton High School class of 1964. He then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oakland City College. He served in the United States Army during the
Vietnam War where he was an operating room technician in a
M.A.S.H. unit in Korea.
Rick served as a volunteer at
Deaconess/Ohio Valley Hospice Care. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Princeton, and at the end of his life, witnessed to his faith
in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah
(Steve) Russell of Peachtree, Ga.; a son Tom (Mary) Rawlinson
of Evanston, Ill.; mother, Mary Elizabeth Rawlinson
of Princeton; sister, Mary C. (John) Ford of Peachtree, Ga.; brothers, Mikel (Annette) Rawlinson of
Greenwood. Mark Rawlinson of Princeton; grandchildren, Andrew and Emily
Russell, Juggy and Nimai Rawlinson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his
father.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Father Bernie Etienne officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville, Ill.. V
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
