ELNORA — Paul Raymond Earles,
88, died Sunday at his residence.
Born Aug. 15, 1922,
in Somerville, he was the son of
James and Agnes Earles.
A graduate of Oakland
City High School,
he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950 from Oakland
City College
and a Master of Arts degree from Indiana
State University.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. He taught
mathematics and chemistry at Elnora, Plainville
and North Daviess high schools, was the principal at
Elnora, Plainville and Raglesville schools, assistant superintendent and
superintendent of the North Daviess Community Schools, served on the North
Daviess school board from 1992 to 1996 and was school board
president from 1994 to 1996. He was a member of Elnora
United Methodist
Church, American Legion Post 245,
Elnora Lodge No. 616 F. and A.M., director of Red Door board, and member of
Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
He is survived by two brothers, Cecil Earles of Princeton and George Earles of Pasadena, Calif.
His first wife, Tempie (Masters) Earles, died Oct.
8, 1990. His second wife, Lois (Purcell) Earles,
died Nov. 11, 2007. Three
brothers, John, James and Arthur Earles, are
also deceased.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. CST Tuesday at Montgomery
Cemetery, Oakland
City, with Rev. Bob Frields officiating.
There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being made
through Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home. (Jan. 30, 2011)
