Wilmer “Jake” Barrett, 93, passed away Thursday, Jan.
20, 2011 at Deaconess
Hospice in Evansville.
Born July 30, 1917 in Pike County, he was the son of Samuel B. and Bessie (Copeland)
Barrett.
He worked as a plasterer for many years
before retiring. He started training bird dogs in northern Indiana and also in southern Georgia.
On Aug. 29, 1945, he married Ruby Cornette
of Madisonville, Ky.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon
Myers and Debbie Barrett, both of Oakland City; brother, Darwin Barrett of Liberty; sisters,
Estelle Ashby, Wandalee Tisdale both of Princeton; grandchildren, Darren McCandless of
Tennyson, Brent McCandless of Oakland City,
Angie Hicks of Francisco, Jamie Wildt of Indianapolis; nine great-grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
There will be no services. His remains were
cremated. Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow handled arrangements.
