Leola E. York, 71, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital.

She owned and operated the Sugar Shack Bakery and Donut Shop in Evansville. Leola made award winning barbeque sauce, was fun loving and never met a stranger. She loved horse racing.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, James W. York, Sr.; sons, James W. York, Jr., and wife Mary, of Evansville, Robert W. York and wife Dawn, of Patoka, Brian S. York, of Evansville; sister, Jenny M. Lay, of Evansville; grandchildren, Jason W., James S., Pat, Mike, Tony, Amanda; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 First Ave., Evansville, with the Rev. Maurice Melton officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. in Concord Cemetery, Emma, Ill.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, from at the funeral home.
